Hawak Kamay Bergen Wows Audience with ‘A Cultural Journey to the Philippines’
Filipino organization Hawak Kamay Bergen proudly showcased the rich culture and immense talent of Filipinos with ‘A Cultural Journey to the Philippines’, held at the Fana Kulturhus, Bergen, Norway on October 29, 2017.
Established in 2012, Hawak Kamay Bergen (HKB) is a non-profit organization based in Bergen, Norway, which aims to help fellow Filipinos in the Philippines have a “quality life.” HKB organizes cultural presentations, sports tournaments, concerts, modern dance shows, concerts, other courses and various stage performances, to raise funds for its charity work in the Philippines. In 2016, the organization raised funds to restore the irrigation system of farmers in Pinantan Diel, Ajuy, Iloilo, with its ‘Restore Philippines Livelihood Project.’
In her remarks, the Philippine Embassy’s Chargé d´Affaires, a.i. (CDA) Maria Elena Algabre congratulated Hawak Kamay Bergen for successfully bringing Philippine culture on a Norwegian stage and being cultural diplomats of the Philippines. She also recognized the efforts of HKB to give back to the country.
Bergen Vice Mayor Marita Moltu also attended the event, and expressed her appreciation of HKB’s preparations to come up with a beautiful show where the audience was made familiar with the culture and people of the Philippines.
